#JerseyLove Favorites at Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City

Last weekend, Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City enlisted the help of 40 amazing women to help us spread the word to the masses: ATLANTIC CITY IS OPEN & READY FOR BUSINESS! Many had the assumption that we had washed away after Hurricane Sandy, but those of you who read our blog on a regular basis know that is way far from the truth.

This trip was called Jersey Love Social Media For Social Good. If you’re big on the twitter, you probably saw the #JerseyLove floating around quite a bit. Anyway, we were thrilled to have the ladies here. Mission was definitely accomplished and we were happy to see that they had some fun doing it. It is Atlantic City, after all.

After scouring through their blogs and tweets for a week, we got a good feel for what the ladies loved about our beloved city and we want to share the favs with you.

1. Steel Pier

Steel Pier

Even though Superstorm Andrea decided to pass through town this day, the ladies were still able to feel the magic of one of Atlantic City’s best attractions. Who doesn’t love rides, games, prizes and food?! Everyone can be a kid at Steel Pier! Mommy B Knows Best wrote a particularly awesome review and captured some amazing moments. Check it out here.

2. Gelato

Cafe Tazza

You can smell this sugary (or sugar free if you’d rather) fancy sensation on your way in and out of Caesars Atlantic City and you know you just have to try it! The flavors are endless at Cafe Tazza!

3. Taste Of AC – A 2013 Atlantic City Food And Wine Festival Preview

Who wouldn’t love an exclusive sneak peek to one of our biggest events of the year?! Our guests got to sample some of the best dishes of Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City chefs slated to be at this year’s festival. Looks like the S’More Cheesecake Bites and Popcorn Bacon Mousse (above) were favs of many. They look good to us too! For a more detailed description, check out My Scraps.

4. The Pool After Dark

The Pool After Dark

Women of all ages know how to get down at Atlantic City’s #1 megaclub at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City! The ladies got to let loose and danced the night away with host Drake Bell last Saturday. Some of them even shut the club down at 4 a.m. And they want to come back again!

5. Atlantic City beach and boardwalk

Or #WineAC and #ATimeForWine as it was known through tweets throughout the weekend. The perfect way to compliment a great time. As seen above, the ladies were privy to a special tasting of Jersey wines at A Time For Wine II at Caesars Atlantic City. Fun stuff anytime of the year, rain or shine!

We think this is a pretty accurate list of why peeps love Atlantic City. What do you think?

Catching Back Up With DJ Patrice McBride In Preparation For Aqua Fridays At Harrah’s Resort

If you’ve been loving getting down to the sounds of DJ Patrice McBride at Toga Bar at Caesars Atlantic City, then you should check him out at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City this Friday for the ultimate mega club experience. Through the ones and twos, Patrice has the ability to rock crowds of all vibes and sizes.

We recently caught back up with Patrice who spoke true to this point and more. Learn more about him, below.

dj patrice mcbride

TAC: In our last interview with you, you told us that you moved around a lot as a kid and believe that you are able to speak to different audiences well through your DJ style because of that. Can you give us some specific examples of this?

Patrice McBride: Well, it’s safe to say that my personal style is pretty Hip Hop, but I often spin concert after-parties or venues that feature a Rock-music format. My years of grade school in upstate New York, and time spent in places where Rock and Metal were the music of choice really helped me connect with the music and its fans.

Living in Central Jersey broadened my spectrum in a different direction. EDM and House music are as popular as ever now, but I remember my friends and I catching on to House and Club music way back in the early 90’s, when it was still very underground. We used to sneak into clubs from Trenton to Newark to hear the latest House DJ’s and watch people lose themselves in the music. I feel like that early exposure to these different genres gave me an understanding and special appreciation for different types of music, and how to read and cater to different crowds. I know what songs will and will not work with a crowd. As a DJ, that’s essential.

TAC: We know what you like about spinning at Toga Bar at Caesars, but what about Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort?!

Patrice McBride: Harrah’s Pool After Dark is one of the most unique venues in the country. Besides the fact that it is a giant, temperature-controlled glass dome, the way the DJ booth and stage are set up allows for DJs, performers and hosts to be in the spotlight, yet the stage is still small enough where performers can interact with guests. It’s a large venue, but still intimate at the same time. Also, with multiple cabanas, jacuzzis, The Loft (where they offer gaming now) and the rooftop section of the club, there are mini parties happening throughout the club, which just adds to the energy. Then there are the perks of DJing for the likes of Cee Lo and the R&B crush of anyone who grew up in the 90’s, Mya. I know a lot of my friends wish they were in my shoes that night. You haven’t done AC, until you’ve done The Pool.

TAC: What’s something you get from DJing that you don’t get from studio work and production?

Patrice McBride: A friend pointed this out to me years ago and it is so true. One of the most satisfying parts of DJing is the instant feedback. When you do a good job and rock a party, people will let you know almost immediately. Studio work and production don’t always offer that. Besides the feedback you get from people you are collaborating with or the people in your inner circle, you really don’t know what the response will be until the project is done. With DJing, it’s happening as you spin. All you have to do is look at the dance floor to know if people are feeling you or not.

TAC: What’s the newest song you’ve discovered that you love incorporating into most of your sets?

Patrice McBride: Right now, I’m really diggin’ Major Lazer’s remix of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’, “Can’t Hold Us.” The original version is great, but the response I get when I play the remix is huge!

(…dance party!)

TAC: You released a new EP since we last spoke with DJ Kontrol, Feck You. Tell us about it!

Patrice McBride: I always get a kick out of hearing people say the title, “Feck You”! “Feck You” is a four song EP featuring sample-based Moombahton tracks with an old school Hip Hop feel. Kontrol and I are close childhood friends who shared a love for music from early on. With “Feck You”, we wanted to revisit and sample some of the songs we grew up listening to and recreate that old school-vibe, but with the sonic-quality of today’s Moombahton.

TAC: Very cool! What inspires you when creating mixes these days?

Patrice McBride: Most of the mixes/recorded sets I spin these days are for radio. I have a mix show on AC 102.7 from midnight to 2 a.m. every Saturday called the #SouthJerseySupermixx. I find inspiration in tracking down the hottest remixes and bootlegs of today’s hits and introducing them on the show.

TAC: Awesome. What would be a dream gig for you?

Patrice McBride: You mean besides a gig as Beyonce’s tour DJ?! How about we book her husband (Jay-Z) at Harrah’s Pool and have me DJ the event!

TAC: Sounds good to us!  Now that we’ve heard about your best gig AND your dream gig, what about the strangest gig you’ve ever played? Is there one that you look back on now and laugh about?

Patrice McBride: I’ve had too many insanely funny gigs to count, some that aren’t exactly appropriate for this blog. I’ll give you a “PG-13” one though. I was DJing last year when out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a young lady calmly strolling towards one of the illuminated dancing platforms in the club. She stepped onto the platform, kicked off her shoes, took off her pants and started dancing around in her panties. She was so nonchalant about it, which made it just as strange as it was funny. Security however did not feel the same way.

TAC: HA! What do you like most about your job?

Patrice McBride: I like to make people happy. People come to the club to have a good time, de-stress, celebrate birthdays and other milestones. The fact that I can contribute to the celebration, or in some cases make them forget even if only for a few hours all that is wrong with the world, is a real privilege.

TAC: You have a very extensive musical background as we previously discussed. What would you be doing if you weren’t DJing?

Patrice McBride: I’m sure I would still be doing music in some capacity, maybe playing guitar or keyboard in my spare time. I love kids though, so I could see myself teaching or maybe coaching sports in my next lifetime.

Good stuff, good stuff! Come see Patrice in big, club action this Friday at Aqua Fridays at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort! Doors open at 10 p.m. & pricing starts at $10!

Sean Lowe To Kick Memorial Day Weekend Off Bachelor Style At The Pool After Dark

As we stated on Tuesday, we are ABSolutely excited that The Bachelor, Sean Lowe, is coming to kick of Memorial Day with us at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City tomorrow night. (Is that joke old yet? Sorry. We like abs. *shrugs*).

Sean was our fav out of all the Bachelors for the past 17 seasons, and if you’re all about the Bachelor Nation, you prob felt the same since this season’s ratings were at record highs.

Our fav Bachelor went straight on into an amazing 8-week run on Dancing With The Stars and was recently eliminated on May 8th after the tango proved to be a little too tricky, but that’s okay because the man  has a wedding to plan! And it’s going to be televised on ABC! Score for us! And we love his new fiancé, she’s such a regular, cute, quirky chick!

Without fangirling too much, we recently sat down to ask Sean a few Q’s about all of this and more. Check out the interview, below!

Sean Lowe

TAC: We are excited to have you in Atlantic City! Have you ever been here before? What are you most looking forward to about hosting Aqua Fridays at The Pool After Dark?

Sean Lowe: I’ve never been to Atlantic City. I’ve heard great things about the city and I’m excited to be a part of the nightlife by hosting Aqua Fridays.

TAC: You were the favorite Bachelor of many (including us)! We loved that you were able to poke fun at yourself during the whole process. How did you not allow yourself to get caught up in the hype & was there any moment where the whole process felt too much for you?

Sean Lowe: I went into the Bachelor knowing that I wanted to enjoy it. Although there were definitely stressful moments, I knew I was lucky to be in the position I was in and I always tried to have fun with it.

TAC: What’s one thing about being the Bachelor that most people wouldn’t realize?

Sean Lowe: It’s exhausting! Very little sleep and you always have to be “on” in front of the cameras.

TAC: What’s the most important lesson you learned being the Bachelor?

Sean Lowe: You’ve got to be true to who you are if you’re ever going to find the right person.

TAC: What about through your experience on Dancing With The Stars?

Sean Lowe: It was so much more physically demanding than I thought it would be.

TAC: Tell us one thing you learned about Catherine since the show wrapped and one thing she has learned about you.

Sean Lowe: She’s such a hard worker. She is really passionate about her career. I think she’s learned that I’m very driven.

TAC: Can you give us any wedding details?!

Sean Lowe: Nothing yet.

TAC: Fine! We’ll wait! Will you watch any of Des’ season? What kind of guy do you think would be the perfect match for her?

Sean Lowe: Yes. I think she needs someone who is down to earth and doesn’t want the fame that the show brings.

TAC: Who would be your pick for the next Bachelor and why?

Sean Lowe: Jef Holm, he was a fan favorite and he’s definitely a unique personality.

TAC: What do you hope your life looks like in five years?

Sean Lowe: I’m not sure, but that’s the exciting part about our lives. We don’t know where we’re going but we know we’ll be happy together.

Aww. We guess we’ll never really know, huh? Catch Sean at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort tomorrow and get your holiday weekend off to the best start! We may or may not be first in line. Your guess. Pricing starts at $10!

Ian Ziering Ready For The Pool After Dark: Talks From Jersey To 90210 & More!

There’s still a lot going on in the world of Ian Ziering. And it’s not 1994 anymore. The recently turned 49-year-old sure doesn’t resemble one! He just became a dad for the second time at the end of April and is gearing up for a run with The Chippendales at The Rio Las Vegas starting June 6th. But perhaps most exciting to us is that he will be hosting Epic Saturdays THIS SATURDAY at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City! Do you think he’ll give us a sneak peak of some of those moves he’s been working on for Vegas? They gotta be good. He was on Dancing With The Stars after all.

We obviously couldn’t take the excitement of this one, so we tracked Ian down to ask him a few questions! Check it out, below!

Ian Ziering

TAC: We are looking forward to having you here with us in Atlantic City! What are you most looking forward to about hosting Epic Saturdays at The Pool After Dark?

Ian Ziering: I am looking forward to getting together with a bunch of friends at an awesome night club in AC.  Its been a long time!

TAC: And you actually grew up in Jersey! What are your best memories about growing up here?

Ian Ziering: Growing up in New Jersey was fantastic. I have such great memories of school and summer camp fun with my friends; friends that I’m still very close to today.

TAC: How did a Jersey boy like you get your big break for Beverly Hills 90210?

Ian Ziering: I started acting when I was 12. Living in West Orange made it easy to get into NYC for auditions. I guess I was in the right place at the right time with the right stuff when my agent called with an audition for 90210. I live in California but Jersey will always be home.

TAC: Aw, we love that! What is the most valuable lesson or experience that you took out of your amazing run as Steve Sanders?

Ian Ziering: Being on a globally successful television program was an incredible experience. I take away an appreciation for everything I learned on the journey.

TAC: What is one of your favorite behind the scenes memories from the show?

Ian Ziering: Tiffani Thiessen once flashed her boobs at me off camera. That was pretty memorable!

TAC: That is better than any answer we could have hoped for to that question! *wink* You will be starting a run with the Chippendales at our sister property, Rio Las Vegas, in June! What has your preparation been for this thus far?

Ian Ziering: I have been dieting and exercising like a madman! The Chippendales set the bar pretty high so I’m doing everything I can just to avoid embarrassing myself. I’ve been working on the choreography as well.

TAC: Dude, you got this! Most 49-year-olds wouldn’t find themselves joining the Chippendales period. What are your anti-aging secrets?!

Ian Ziering: I have always taken care of myself. Diet and exercise have always been part of my wheelhouse. Taking care of my skin has also been important. My first facial was at 12 years old. I continue to get them, but these days a clear complexion isn’t as important as a youthful appearance, so I use products that work on a genetic level. Nu Skin has brought some revolutionary anti-aging products to market and I swear by them all.

TAC: Very cool and informative. And finally, Congratulations! You just had your second baby girl a couple weeks ago! How has fatherhood changed you?

Ian Ziering: Being a father is the best job I’ve ever had! Having an incredible wife, and two baby girls is a dream come true for me!

And our dream come true is having you at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort! If you concur, pricing starts at $20! Be there!

DJ Desisto Stands Out At The Pool After Dark At Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City

DJ Desisto has already made a name for himself at the ripe young age of 24. In May alone, he’s set to hit the turntables twice at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City and pave the way for some of the heavy hitters like DJ Webstar and Pauly D later in the month. He’s also well-known at Foundation Room at Showboat as well as other popular nightclubs in Atlantic City, other parts of Jersey, Philly, Miami and Vegas. Whew!

Maybe his success can be credited to is vast musical knowledge. He just knows how to work different beats. Or maybe it’s because he has the smarts. He knows how to market himself and cross paths with the right people. It’s probably a combination of all of these things, though. We grabbed a couple minutes recently to chat with DJ Desisto about all this and more. Check out the interview, below.

DJ Desisto

TAC: Your Uncle was a DJ and kind of set you up on this path by giving you his DJ equipment after seeing you perform in touring bands over the years. Has DJing been your sole musical outlet since then or do you still perform in other ways?

DJ Desisto: DJing has been my only musical outlet the last 8 years.  When I was in college, I would refine my skills performing at many fraternity and sorority events—the club business came to me very quickly after.  Eight years ago there were hardly any DJs and it was very easy to stand out and build a solid following.  I used that following to make a name for myself and that’s one of the main reasons I’m performing at the places I am today.

TAC: What is it about DJing that you can’t get from performing through any other musical outlet?

DJ Desisto: As a DJ, you’re the “go to” person.  I personally control the crowd, and it’s that recognition that gives you a thrill.

TAC: So true! You studied classical and jazz music when you were younger. How has this shaped the way you view music?

DJ Desisto: Most DJs don’t understand the backbone of music, and for someone that has a deep knowledge of music, it makes mixing sound much cleaner and natural.  There are a ton of songs that sound better when they’re mixed together because of their chord progression and key, and I’m one of the few DJs out there that can recognize this.

TAC: You produce a lot of gym mixes. Why gym mixes in particular and how do you gage that they will help during a workout?

DJ Desisto: I call my mixes “gym mixes” because it’s a unique marketing campaign that works.  There are a million DJs that release mixes online that get lost because there’s nothing that makes them stand out.  From my own personal research, I found out that the only time the public will listen to a DJs mix was during the gym or driving a car.  By naming my mixes “Gym Mixes” it helped them spread virally.  Currently, all my mixes have about 50-60 times the amount of plays than other DJs mixtapes.

TAC: Ah, very clever! (See what we mean? Smart!) What do you like most about spinning at The Pool After Dark?

DJ Desisto: The room makes you feel as if you’re in a tropical paradise.  The Pool is always very busy and has a fun and energetic crowd.  There’s no other club on the East Coast that comes close to how unique the venue is.

TAC: What makes you different from other DJs in Atlantic City?

DJ Desisto: Back in September I was hired to work for Billboard as a Dance/club chart reporter.  Since I started working for Billboard, there were a ton of doors that opened for me and it really helped me understand this music business.  One of the biggest perks working for Billboard is my ability to get songs and remixes typically 2-3 weeks earlier than they’re released to the public.  When I play a room these days, I’m the only DJ playing the newest and best songs and remixes because I’m the only DJ that has them.

TAC: That’s awesome. We were just going to ask you about your Chart Reporter position at Billboard, actually. What does this job entail?

DJ Desisto: I accurately report music on a weekly basis to Billboard to present the public with a true representation of the most popular music across the United States, coast to coast and beyond.  I work very closely with major record labels, record label promoters, artists, and management to discover new music and determine what records react best to the public.  It’s a very powerful and prestigious position, and it has truly widened my rage of music, made me a better DJ, and opened the doors to the biggest contacts in the music industry.

TAC: Very cool. Fill in the sentence: The song that ALWAYS gets everyone on their feet is….

DJ Desisto:  Quintino- Epic

(Please hold. It’s time for a dance break!)

TAC: Okay, now that we got that out of our system, what are the most diverse artists you house in your collection to spin?

DJ Desisto: Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Passion Pit, Whitney Houstin, Linkin Park, and Nirvana.

TAC: Nice.  You have encountered many celebs through spinning live. What’s your best celebrity story?

DJ Desisto: My favorite story was when I only 22 years old and had the opportunity to DJ with Avicii and Cazzette at an arena in front of 5,000 people.  This was my first experience I’ve ever had DJing a concert, and it opened my eyes to the bigger picture in the entertainment business.  This experience was the most beneficial and meaningful to my career in the entertainment industry.

Impressive, right?! We think so! Be sure to catch DJ Desisto in action tomorrow night for Wet N’ Wild Wednesday’s Neon Nights at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort with DJ Vito G and DJ Mazz! Pricing starts at $10!

DJ Webstar Keeps First Love Going At Showboat Atlantic City’s First Fridays At Foundation Room

The Foundation Room at Showboat Atlantic City is gearing up for another famous First Friday again this week. Can you believe it’s just about May already? Dang! Good for ya’ll though, because that means it’s time for another party!

If you’ve ever experienced a First Friday before, it’s always a happenin’ time with an awesome crowd. One of the reasons for this is electric vibe is thanks to resident DJ, DJ Webstar.

DJ Webstar is a celebrity in his own right and not only because his spinning skills are off the hook, but because he is also a known rapper and producer. In fact, his famous single, “Chicken Noodle Soup”, blew up YouTube in 2006 and quickly led to a major label deal. “Chicken Noodle Soup” was soon part of a 13-track album called Webstar Presents: Caught In The Web. Uptown Harlem followed in 2008 and a collaborative album with Jim Jones (you know, Chrissy & Mr. Jones, Jim Jones), The Rooftop, in 2009.

Despite all of this fame and fandom, DJ Webstar still finds the time to get back to his first love of DJing. We talked with him about this, his third solo album in the works, First Fridays and more! Check it out, below.

DJ Webstar

TAC: Most people know you from your famous single, “Chicken Noodle Soup” that became an Internet sensation. What’s the story about the creation of this song?

DJ Webstar: The song blew up unexpectedly. I use to do teen party’s in Harlem NYC, that attracted thousands of kids. I was pretty much just doing music for my followers , but the song hit YouTube a took on a life of its own.

TAC: Why do you think people responded so well to “Chicken Noodle Soup”?

DJ Webstar: I think people responded so well because it was fun, clean, and real. With all the problems in the world today people wanna have a good time whenever they can.

TAC: How has your life changed since that song blew up?

DJ Webstar: Yea my life has changed a lot since then.  Money changes the way you live and the things you do, but I’ve remained humble and remain positive. Women treat you a little better as well (laughs).

TAC: You’ve released three albums since then, the last being in 2009. Can we expect another one soon?

DJ Webstar: I’m currently working on my third studio album. We can expect it hopefully Sept 2013. Album features  Diddy,  Nicki Minaj, DJ Pauly D,  Wyclef , Jim Jones and Wale just to name a few.

TAC: So cool! Pulling out all the stops! How do you balance spinning at clubs and your music and producing career?

DJ Webstar: DJing actually keeps a good balance with my other ventures. You can keep in tune with the people, you can know whats hot and what’s not. DJing is my first love..

TAC: What do you like best about spinning at First Fridays every month at Foundation Room at Showboat Atlantic City?

DJ Webstar: The best thing about First Fridays is the energy. People come dressed really nice and ready to party. Nothing better than a great good looking crowd who just wants to party. Good music, good people, and good fashion equals great energy and an amazing party.

TAC: Finish the sentence…The one song that ALWAYS gets the First Fridays crowd dancing is…

DJ Webstar: The one song that always gets First Fridays crowd going is poison By Bel Biv Devoe.

(Excuse us, we need a dance break for this one…

Never trust a big butt and a smile, ya’ll)

TAC: What’s something that you get from spinning live that you can’t when you’re in the studio and vice versa?

DJ Webstar: The one thing you can get from spinning live that you can’t get in the studio is the energy the people give you.   Being able to motivate the crowd. That feeling is unexplainable.

TAC: One of your mentors is Diddy. What was the best piece of advice he has ever given to you and how did you form such a great relationship with him?

DJ Webstar: Diddy was actually the one who talked me back in to DJing again I stopped for a while he told me don’t cheat my self.  He said if I have the talent to do something, then do it and be the best at it. Get money from everywhere you can, stay positive, negative never wins. He’s the greatest, so when he talks, I listen.

TAC: Absolutely! Where do you hope to be in 10 years?

DJ Webstar: In 10 years, we’ll be doing the 10 year anniversary of First Friday! I don’t think that far really, but God willing, I’ll still be successfully DJing and making good music . Just with a lot more money (laughs).

Sounds good to us! And we totally hope to be celebrating the 10 year anniversary of First Friday with you! In the meantime though, check out DJ Webstar at First Friday THIS Friday at Foundation Room at Showboat. Doors open at 10!

The Party Gets Better With DJ Ease At The Pool After Dark

It was a hot weekend at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City. Aqua Fridays kicked off with a Mystery Guest performance featuring Mims. This why I’m hot, this is why I’m hot, this is why, this is why, this is why I’m hot, ya’ll…who didn’t love to karaoke to that back in 2007? Then Ciara kept it going with a killer rendition of  ”Oh” on Saturday. But Mims and Ciara weren’t the only ones bringing the heat! DJ Ease was in the house as part of the Beatclan Takeover that went down both Friday and Saturday. You know him. He’s the one that can go from ’80s to Hip Hop to Reggae to Top 40 without skipping a beat.  And you all totally feel it. DJ Ease…apropos…don’t you think?

This guy has won many honors and has made his mark from coast to coast AND from country to country. He is also a credible producer and has opened shows for big named bands like The Beastie Boys and The Black Eyed Peas. Not too shabby at all. Learn more about DJ Ease’s story in his interview with us, below.

DJ Ease

TAC: How did your DJ journey begin?

DJ Ease: I started out gaining recognition for making Hip-Hop mix tapes in high school. I was making up to fifty dollars a day selling these mix tapes in the hallways. I went on later to compete and win scratch battles from Rochester to NYC which caught the attention of artists and record labels looking for a tour DJ at that time.

TAC: How did you get your DJ name – DJ Ease?

DJ Ease: It was my graffiti name as a kid that my peers started calling me by. It has stuck since then.

TAC: Your bio says that you are a 7x DJ champion! Tell us about this!

DJ Ease: From 2002-2005, I have won seven scratch battles from New York to New Jersey. So far this year, I have won three national battles including the Master of the Mix WMC Beat Matching Championship, WMC Scratching Championship, and the DMC U.S. Atlanta Regional DJ Championship. Winning the DMC U.S Atlanta regional championship, qualifies me to compete in the DMC USA Finals which will take place August 3rd 2013 in New York City .The winner of the USA finals will progress to the DMC world finals in the UK this fall to represent the U.S. Thus far, I am a 10x DJ champion.

TAC: Good for you! You are also a “personal celebrity party DJ”. Who is the most exciting celebrity you have ever played for? And what was the party like?!

DJ Ease: The most exciting celebrity I ever played for was Big Boi from the group OutKast. It was his Birthday party at Stankonia Studios in Atlanta where they recorded all their hits. There was even a nightclub in the back. The party was live and he had his mother barbecuing while The Big Game was on the big screen. People were dancing while rooting for the Giants over the Pats and at the end of the night Big Boi played us a load of his unreleased music. Definitely Unforgettable!

TAC: You are versed in Top 40, Club classics, ‘80s, ‘90s, Hip Hop, Reggae, House and Electro genres of music. How are you able to stay on top of so many genres and what are some of your favorite beats from each?

DJ Ease: Aside from knowing a lot of classic old music because my Uncles are also DJs (I stole a lot of their records), I spent a few years DJing on cruise ships that held up to 5,000 people. I had to be on top of what works for a crowd of different personalities and age groups.  In Top 40 right now, I am feeling most of what Calvin Harris is putting out. Michael Jackson for the ’80s, mostly Jay-Z & Biggie to represent the ’90s, Beenie Man for reggae, AfroJack and my boy KILL the  NOISE for electro. In Hip Hop today Kendrick Lamar and Drake are killing it.

(Hey, how about a Calvin Harris dance party break for your Monday?)

TAC: What is your favorite way of working some of those genres together in the club?

DJ Ease: Programming them in an order that builds a night of experience, surprise, and memory lane. Making the party-goer not want to go home.

TAC: What do you like most about spinning at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City?

DJ Ease: The fact that I know this crowd is here to party. Not to sip water or to waltz, but to have the best night of their lives and to get pushed to the point of jumping in the pool wearing something it took them forever to put on. That’s the DJs job!

TAC: Totally! You have international DJ experience as well. How were you able to expand your career well outside of the East coast let alone the United States?

DJ Ease: I became a tour DJ for artists and bands with international fan bases. Capitol Records hired me to DJ for a band that had a hit record in Japan. I toured with them internationally for some time. I also went on tour with AFU-RA, a member of the Gang Starr Foundation. We toured 50 cities around the US with Wu-Tang Clan member Inspectah Deck and ended up touring Europe for two years straight. Amidst the time of international and domestic touring, I made enough connections and relationships to book my own tours worldwide.

TAC: What inspires you when creating mixes?

DJ Ease: Knowing people are going to be listening in their cars on the way to a club or work. Getting the great feedback inspires me.

TAC: What do you hope to accomplish in your DJ career that you haven’t accomplished yet?

DJ Ease: Taking my skills to the next level as a mixer and a producer. The better I get,the better the party gets!

We like the sound of that! Check out DJ Ease at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort again on May 11th and keep checking his schedule for other dates in the area and at our other properties.
